 Basically a one-hour show, this can be shortened or stretched to suit your needs. It can be played on your piano, or Eric's portable keyboard, which takes up no more space than an ironing board.
It features toe-tapping, grinning-from-ear-to-ear songs drawn from all types of music: pop-rock, Broadway, blues, country, boogie-woogie, Dixieland/ragtime, & swing/big band. Music is varied to suit the audience's sophistication, age, gender, and ethnicity.
Clean jokes alternate with songs. Eric is also a veteran of stand-up comedy.
Stevens appeared 3 times on MERV GRIFFIN'S show, and made 10 acting appearances on ANOTHER LIFE. He has been seen on many TV commercials. He was a radio announcer in NY, but is not to be confused with a country-radio personality of the same name.
Eric sang the National Anthem for PRESIDENT REAGAN. When Eric opened for BILL COSBY in a Manhattan nightclub, Show Business Weekly said he had "...a big belting voice, a charming quality, and lively stage presence." He played bass on the hit record, "The Preacherman."
The show is strictly for seated, listening audiences, as are Eric's many theme programs, such as "A Salute to America." Billing himself as "The PROGRAM Guy - Entertainment that INFORMS," he appears at colleges throughout the South. for a list of more than 20 programs, see "The Program Guy."
By contrast, when people wish to converse at cocktail parties or dinners, Eric plays appropriate background music, and sings only if requested. He played solo piano in the style of Erroll Garner and Ramsey Lewis at functions for Governor Gilmore, and Governor Wilder, and Senator Trible. A solo piano brochure is available.
Eric still has his band, active since 1971. They played twice for Senator Robb. The IN CROWD opened for ATLANTA RHYTHM SECTION at the 1996 Chesapeake Jubilee. A band brochure is also available for your review.
